How do you light a fire table?

First, make sure you are referencing the manual of any given fire table, so you’re connecting all the parts correctly. You might choose between a natural gas connection to the house or using a tank. Either way, it needs to be set up correctly to proceed. This is the critical step in determining if you get a successful flame because all the details need to be in order. The burn tray will usually have a protective film that should be removed before operating, or this is another potential hazard.

Perform a leak check

Always do a leak check before attempting to light your fire table, and it will be a safer process. Ensure that the gas flows evenly and efficiently to get a consistent flame. If the fire is too weak, then it’s likely that there isn’t enough gas flow, and this can be dangerous if not addressed. The regulator valve and hose connection should be secure to the tank and burner. The burner pipe should be entirely over the orifice for even gas flow. Checking for leaks regularly will ensure you remain safe because they can spontaneously occur.

Make sure the gas is turned on to open fully

Of course, you can’t have a fire without the gas, so don’t forget to switch the valve on. This will give the optimal gas flow to your fire table, so you get a warming and safe experience. You can choose to light the unit with a lighter or utilize the inbuilt igniter function. Going with the latter is more convenient because you won’t have to use extra utensils or get close to the pit with your hand. If you do, then wear some fireproof gloves when lighting manually. Now that the gas is running, it’s time to operate your model to get that fire going with vibrant efficiency!

Push and hold igniter for spark creation

Next, you need to generate the spark to stimulate the combustion and cause an actual flame to appear. Push down the igniter consistently, creating the spark necessary to light up your space. A stable gas connection is most important when operating because you will be closer to the pit. Turning the knob creates the spark, so make sure to turn steadily. Some models may vary in controls, but the general principle is the same. Always reference your manual for the time you should be holding the igniter. You’re not there yet because it requires a bit of finesse to get it functioning. However, you’ll get used to the process with more experience.

Move the knob to “light” setting, then wait 30 seconds

While holding the ignition down, you want to move the knob counterclockwise slowly to the LIGHT setting. This will trigger the flame, and you should see it within a few seconds. Analyze the fire visually and make sure it looks steady and even. The control knob of the burner should be pressed in for around 30 seconds after you’ve ignited it. You might experience delays or no flame at all. Turn it off and completely shut off the gas for 5 minutes before trying again. This allows the excess gas to clear, so you remain safe. Mostly, you’ll be able to get it on your first try, but don’t be frightened if it doesn’t light initially.

Rotate to the “Low” Setting and adjust accordingly

Now that you have observed a lit flame, you can turn the knob counterclockwise down to the lowest setting. This way, you’ll be able to gauge what is suitable from the ground up and adjust the flame to your liking. Examine all the burner ports and make sure they’re lit and healthy. Consider the flame height because it will give you the necessary information. A flame should never exceed 13 inches, otherwise, there might be a problem with gas flow. Another safety consideration while lighting the fire table is to wear a fireproof apron over your clothes to reduce the risk of catching on fire.
